Dear Parents,

I hope that you all enjoy a restful Thanksgiving break!  It’s hard to believe that December is here already and the holidays are upon us.  Below are some dates and reminders for the very busy month of December.

We will be having an assembly called “The Illusion Maker” in the afternoon on December 4th.  Students will learn about recycling and the environment through magic!  Be sure to ask your child about this very exciting assembly!

School Spirit Day and the Reading Pep Rally will both be held on Friday, December 6th!  Be sure that your child wears his or her blue and white and don’t forget to send in those reading logs!

The PTO Book Fair will be held the week of December 9th through the 11th.  A schedule will be coming home so be sure to check and see when your child is scheduled to go.  There will also be a Family Night at the Book Fair on Wednesday, December 11th beginning at 6:30 – 8:30 pm.  We would love to see you there!

There will be Early Dismissals December 9th – 12th for Parent Teacher Conferences and on Friday, December 13th for Staff In-Service.  Please be sure to check the half-day schedule.  If you are in need of a new schedule, please contact the office.  Anyone in need of scheduling an appointment should call or email their child’s teacher.

There will be a Board of Education Meeting on Thursday, December 12th at 6:30 pm and on Monday, December 16th at 6:30 pm. in the Schalick High School Media Center. All are welcome to attend.

Friday, December 20th is a full day. More information will be coming home from your child’s teacher regarding holiday festivities.  Keep an eye on your child’s folder to find out what’s happening!

School will be CLOSED for Winter Recess from December 21st through January 5th.  School will reopen on Monday, January 6th, 2014.

A reminder to parents… Since the weather is getting cold, we ask you to please send your child to school with coats, hats, and gloves.  We have had students come to school with no coat or wearing only sweatshirts.  If the weather is permissible, the children do go outside and play and proper attire is crucial.  If your child does not have the proper outerwear he or she may not be permitted to participate in outdoor recess.  We also ask that you make sure to label ALL garments since the children often leave things on the bus or drop them in the halls on the way to their classrooms.  Labeling the items will help us identify the owners in a timely manner. We do have items in the office that were “lost”.  If you are looking for a particular item, please contact the office.

The Norma School staff would like to wish you all a blessed holiday season and a very Happy New Year.  Enjoy a restful break with family and friends and we will see you in 2013!
