Dear Parents,
It’s hard to believe that September has flown past us and October is here! This will be a fun-filled month with many things happening. Please see the list of important dates and things to remember for the month.

The Week of Respect is October 7th through the 11th. We will be having a respect pep rally on Monday, October 7th to discuss being a good friend and how to treat others with respect. We will have the following activities planned:

The PTO Room Parent Round-Up will be held on Tuesday, October 15th at Olivet School beginning at 6:30 pm. This is a great time to meet other parents and to get involved in your child’s classroom. The PTO meeting will immediately follow.
There will be a Board of Education meeting on Thursday, October 17th beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Schalick High School Media Center and Monday, October 21st at 6:30 p.m.
We will be having a bus evacuation drill on Tuesday, October 22nd. Students will practice leaving the school bus safely in case of an emergency. Ask your child about what they learned on this special safety morning!
There will be an Early Dismissal on Friday, October 25th for Teacher In-Service. Please be sure to consult the abbreviated schedule or contact Norma School
Red Ribbon Week visitation will be held on Friday, October 25th. High school students will be visiting Norma School to talk about being safe and drug awareness and safety.
On Thursday, October 31st, we will be having some activities in the classrooms to celebrate Harvest and Halloween. More information will be coming home later this month. As with all activities, please contact your child’s teacher if you plan to send in a special snack. We have many allergies and it is critical for the safety of the students that the snacks are monitored very closely. Thank you in advance for helping to preserve the safety of our students as they enjoy special events.
With the weather changing, we encourage parents to send their children to school with appropriate attire. Students are going outside to play and jackets, sweaters, sweatshirts, sneakers, and other outerwear items are important. Be sure that your child has the necessary items to be outside on cooler days and that you have labeled your child’s belongings.
As always, should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Norma School at 856-358-6904. Have a great month!
